FAQ

What did Command An Army Update 2 add?
Ranked mode, Guilds, and two new units: Rapier (a 2-star that evolves into the parrying Rapier Knight) and Reaper. The game is tagged [GUILD & RANKED] on Roblox, which is how you can tell which build you are on.
Is the Rapier unit good?
It is too new for a settled verdict, but the mechanic is the interesting part: Rapier is a 2-star that evolves into Rapier Knight, which can parry. Evolving it requires reaching level 20 first, so most players will not have a tested Rapier for a while.
Is the Reaper unit worth summoning?
No, according to the creators who have tested it. Reaper is built for one-on-one duels in a game that is fundamentally army-versus-army, and it loses to archers it cannot reach. One creator described it as the worst unit in the update.
How much do Guilds cost?
Guilds have Gem costs attached to their progression, and creators flag them as expensive — the advice is to sort out your unit lineup before sinking Gems into guild progression.
When is the next Command An Army update?
Creators expect a unit-focused drop next, after Update 2 shipped as a game-mode update. Command An Army patches weekly, so the tier list on this site is rechecked whenever the meta moves.

What Update 2 changed

Update 2 is the Ranked & Guilds patch. The Roblox page carries the [GUILD & RANKED] tag, which is the quickest way to confirm which build you are on.

Unlike the previous patches, Update 2 did not reshape the unit meta — it added game modes and two units. The unit meta itself was already changed by the 1.5 patch that nerfed Archer range, buffed Spearmen and nerfed Spartans. If you are catching up on both, the best units tier list covers the resulting rankings.

Ranked mode

Ranked arrived with the patch, and the first week is the worst time to judge it — everyone is queuing at once, so early matches are against the strongest players online rather than a representative field.

It plays as team versus team, not one-on-one. If you were expecting a duel ladder, that is not what this is.

Guilds

Guilds also shipped with Update 2, and the practical warning attached to them is cost: guild progression carries Gem costs, and creators describe them as expensive for what they return early on.

The sensible order is to settle your unit lineup first. Gems spent on a guild are Gems not spent on summons, and summons are what build the army that wins matches. The star limit guide explains why a small number of good units beats a large number of mediocre ones.

The two new units

Rapier → Rapier Knight

Rapier is a 2-star unit that evolves into Rapier Knight, and the reason it is interesting is the mechanic: the evolved form can parry.

Parry is a new kind of defensive tool for a mid-cost unit, and it is worth watching for one specific reason — the shield matchup. Command An Army’s counter system revolves around block damage and shield breaking, so a unit that punishes incoming attacks is a different answer to the same problem. Whether it lands depends on how reliably parry triggers in a crowd.

Two practical notes before you invest:

  • Evolving it needs level 20. That is a real time cost, so nobody has a tested Rapier Knight yet.
  • Evolving raises the star cost. Rank up first, then evolve — the star limit guide explains why evolving too early can price a unit out of your own lineup.

Reaper

Reaper is the other Update 2 unit, and the verdict is already in from creators who tested it: it is one of the weakest units in the game.

The design problem is conceptual rather than numerical. Reaper is built for one-on-one fights in a game that is fundamentally about army-versus-army pushes. It also loses to archers it cannot reach, which in the current meta — where Flame Archers are S tier — is close to fatal.

It sits in C tier on our tier list. Do not spend summons chasing it.

What to do with the patch

If you are new: the update did not change the beginner path. Finish the tutorial, redeem the working codes for Gems, and follow the beginner guide — then decide on units with the star limit in mind.

If you already have a lineup: Ranked is worth queuing once the first-week rush settles, Guilds can wait until your units are sorted, and Rapier is a watch-list unit rather than a chase target until someone has tested a levelled Rapier Knight.

The meta changes on the 1.5-style patches, not the mode patches — so the tier list is the page to recheck when the next unit drop lands.
